![]() Besides the part count, the set needs to use parts that are currently in production. This limit is depending on another long list of requirements. The part count needs to be within a certain limit to stay economical. The set needs to be sturdy, to make sure the build doesn't get frustrating. A LEGO set needs to meet a lot of requirements. But there are some very big differences between a MOC and an official LEGO set. To be honest, I in part have to agree with the complaints. I love the style, colors and overall design. The final product didn't look like the fan design, it was dumbed down, the set lacked atmosphere, 'this is not what I voted for', etc. From the moment the first photos leaked (what is something Rebrickable will not take part in), the internet was flooded with comments. Lets adress the elephant in the room: The fan design vs. I thought it would be fun to include this set into the review, but with prices starting at €180,-, that was not really an option. One of them, 3739-1 Blacksmith Shop, has a similar design, and was a fan design as well, in a forerunner of LEGO Ideas: My Own Creation. I have not built much Castle myself as a kid, but I remember my brother having all the Forest Men sets. Again, a set with strong bonds to an old favorite: Castle. Today, I'm building LEGO Ideas set 21325-1 Medieval Blacksmith. ![]() It was just a blast to build, where I was feeling the love from the designers for the theme. Without having much nostalgia for the Pirates theme, I completely loved this set, ranking firmly in my top 3 of best sets from 2020.
