This superhero movie boils over with all the fast-paced editing, special effects, violence, and visual fireworks standard to the genre dominated by Marvel and DC. The slick Major Grom: Plague Doctor takes after the goofball aspects of Deadpool more than the over-seriousness of earlier Batman movies, but it fits squarely and competently into the category. Show moreĭon't expect depth here, but it's pretty entertaining. Subplots abound, with the charitable civic-mindedness of a Steve Jobs-like tech zillionaire (Sergei Goroshko) on display. Petersburg of its lawlessness, injustice and "rottenness." An eager new police recruit named Dima (Alexander Seteykin) plays the Robin to Grom's Batman and gutsy reporter Yulia (Lyubov Aksyonova) becomes his close ally in crime-fighting. The vigilante, called the Plague Doctor, uses a new social media app called Together to announce his intention to rid the powerful and wealthy St. He kills a billionaire murderer who has been let off by a judge. This comic tone is interrupted by the appearance of a vigilante in a high-tech outfit with flame-throwing hands, armor, and a Bubonic Plague-era bird's beak mask. Of course, he's back at work the next day. His boss, Fyodor (Aleksey Maklakov), his dad's best friend and Igor's mentor, regularly asks for the younger cop's resignation, which Igor signs. Often in difficult situations, he quickly runs various solutions through his head as he says aloud, "Think, think, think," then acts to save the day. Cut to a long sequence in which the indestructible Grom doggedly follows thieves in a destructive and unlikely car chase. The action opens flashforward to a small child displaying the criminal tendencies that will show up later, when he's an adult. MAJOR GROM: PLAGUE DOCTOR presents Russian police officer Igor Grom (Tikhon Zhiznevskiy), a loner who plays by no one's rules but gets the bad guys off the streets in his own unorthodox way. Crowds of vigilantes attack innocents in the street. People are burned to death, blown up, beaten, thrown out of windows. Explosions, beatings, and fires are common. Grom chases an anonymous murderous vigilante in high-tech armor and a Bubonic Plague-era bird's beak mask through the stately and corrupt city of St. Language, including "s-t," "bitch," "ass," "pr-k," "damn," "hell," "balls," "p-sy," "scumbag," and "dirtbag," is relatively infrequent. Une heure et quart plus ****, on est pas plus fixé sur son « pouvoir » mais ses méthodes et surtout sa mentalité nous l’on rendu antipathique ou au mieux… tout simplement creux. A noter qu’on ne pige pas trop le soit-disant « pouvoir » du héros si ce n’est qu’il s’apparenterait à un « jour sans fin »… bien qu’il ne soit utilisé qu’au tout début du film ! allez comprendre… Une grosse production russe sous la houlette de Netflix, ce qui garantit des moyens conséquents et des effets spéciaux tout à fait présentables la réalisation reste dans l’ensemble correcte… mais sans plus.
